Training

The training program of the QU-ATTO network will consist of a variety of activities divided into two main components: Network-wide training, which is common to all doctoral candidates, and Individual training, tailored to the specific needs of each doctoral candidate.

Network-wide Training

Upon entering the network, participants will receive a Welcome Package that contains essential information regarding the beneficiaries and associated partners within the consortium. To promote the development of both scientific and transferable skills, a series of seminars will be delivered via videoconferences (webinars) or during summer and winter schools. These sessions are designed to enhance the fellows‘ competencies across various domains. Network meetings are integral to the training framework. These gatherings are held annually, including an initial kick-off meeting, to facilitate robust interactions among doctoral candidates and between the fellows and senior scientists. To maximize the efficiency of time management for both doctoral candidates and their supervisors, these network meetings will be synchronized with other pertinent training events, such as summer and winter schools. Additionally, web-based activities, including monthly webinars, will be organized to provide comprehensive training in scientific and transferable skills for all doctoral candidates.

The Network-wide Training will include:

  • • Welcome Package
  • • Videotutorial
  • • Webinars
  • • Network events
  • • Network meetings
  • • Career development plan

Individual Training

The Individual Training component is designed for each fellow and will be based on the training opportunities available at the primary host institution and any secondment institutions where the doctoral candidates will engage in their activities. The specific nature and scope of these activities will largely depend on the interests and aspirations of the young researchers, as well as the characteristics of their respective host institutions. Individual training will comprise several elements. The foundation will be an individual research project, which will involve collaboration between two or three network partners, facilitating knowledge exchange and cooperative research efforts. Furthermore, Transferable Skills Modules (TSMs) will be available, featuring intensive lectures and seminars on essential transferable skills that fellows are expected to attend at their host institution or other network locations. Research Training Modules (RTMs) and scientific courses will also be offered, concentrating on specific experimental or theoretical techniques. By utilizing the resources from various partner institutions, the program aims to provide the highest quality of training. Doctoral candidates will also have the chance to participate in international conferences and workshops throughout their tenure in the network, thereby broadening their exposure to the global scientific community. The objective of the individual training is to enable doctoral candidates to customize their training plans in alignment with their unique needs and interests.

The Individual Training will include:

  • • Individual Research Project
  • • Research Training Modules and scientific courses
  • • Transferable Skills Modules
