January 2026

On January 19, the QU-ATTO Doctoral Network held its Second Annual Meeting at Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste.
For the first time since the start of the project, all Doctoral Candidates and Supervisors gathered in person to present their research, exchange ideas, and discuss the overall progress of the Network.

The Winter QU-ATTO School on communication skills and public engagement successfully took place from 13–16 January at the Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia.
Doctoral candidates strengthened their ability to communicate science to non-expert audiences, practiced interactive facilitation, and gained hands-on experience in dialogue, inclusion, and creative engagement. During the school, they also received training on the Photonics Explorer Kit, developed by EYEST for secondary school students, which they will use in future outreach activities.

November 2025

The first QU-ATTO beamtimes at Elettra–FERMI have been successfully completed!

Five QU-ATTO doctoral candidates participated in their first beamtimes, which took place at the Low Density Matter (LDM) beamline and the Elastic and Inelastic Scattering (EIS) TIMER beamline hosted at FERMI; using attosecond pulses generated by the seeded free-electron laser, they investigated atoms, molecules, and thin films.
During these experiments, the doctoral candidates had the opportunity to meet and discuss with other PIs of the network, get to know each other, exchange ideas, and collaborate closely on their first joint research activities.

October 2025

The first virtual meeting of the QU-ATTO PhD students took place today!
A great opportunity for the doctoral candidates to meet each other, share their backgrounds, and start building connections across the network.

Juni 2025

We are excited to announce the release of two new video tutorials on high-order harmonic generation, presented by Nobel Laureate Prof. Anne L’Huillier.

September 1, 2024: official starting date of the QU-ATTO network.

The QU-ATTO Doctoral Network officially kicked off with a successful virtual meeting on Friday, September 6th, 2024.
Funded by the Horizon Europe Programme, QU-ATTO is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Training Network that unites 14 academic institutions, three large-scale facilities, four industrial companies, and two outreach partners across 10 European countries.
We are accepting applications from talented and motivated doctoral candidates eager to advance the fields of quantum information and attosecond science.
